La Delizia Pinot Grigio Aquila
Country/Region of Origin: Italy

Region: Italy, Veneto

Grape variety: Pinot Grigio

Background: La Delizia is what the Italians call with such a beautiful word 'Cantina', a cooperative of grape producers, who have joined forces. Together they can make much better products, in a much more efficient way than alone. Moreover, the wines are much better to market under one label.

The cantina owes its name to the municipality where it is located: Casarsa La Delizia, in the province of Pordenone. A small municipality, with no more than about 8000 inhabitants, but all the more vineyards. These are located at an altitude of 44 meters above sea level. The designation "Delizia" in the name of the municipality of Casarsa della Delizia refers to the fertility of this region, beautiful arable land between Casarsa and the Tagliamento River.

The Pinot Grigio, Italian for Pinot Gris, feels very much at home in this part of Italy. That is the magical combination of the special terroir and the cool climate of this region. La Delizia wants to make a Pinot Grigio in the Italian style, so not too heavy, but above all stimulating and with a lot of fruit and freshness. The grapes should therefore not be picked too late, when they still have good acidity and a perfect balance. This is followed by a cold temperature fermentation on stainless steel, with which the wine perfectly retains its freshness and juice. This results in a deliciously light-footed white wine, in the tradition of the juicy and fresh Italian Pinot Grigio. Delicious.

Tasting notes: Pleasant open fragrance, flowers, acacia, pear and apple, hint of citrus, invigorating. Light and juicy, hint of kiwi and some peach, open and light-footed, soft and juicy, a touch of mint, some pleasant acidity after.
