Fairhall Cliffs Sauvignon Blanc 2023
Country/Region of Origin: New Zealand

Region: New Zealand, Marlborough

Grape variety: Sauvignon Blanc

Background: The Fairhall Cliffs Vineyard is located on aged alluvial soils, a result of ancient glacial activity in the protected Southern Valleys of Marlborough. Brent Marris - “It is an old vine, single vineyard wine from my father’s vineyard. He was the first person to plant vines in Marlborough. The hand-picked fruit is grown on one of the few blocks consisting of slopes and cliffs in the southern valleys overlooking the Brancott Valley, Marlborough. The beauty about old vines is that the grapes achieve such balance and that older root systems give incredible minerality and expression – reminiscent of great Pouilly Fume”.

Tasting notes: This vineyard was planted in 1974 by John Marris and is officially the oldest surviving vineyard in Marlborough. These old vines start to give wines with more mineral characteristics – like Sancerre only on steroids.

From the oldest Sauvignon vines in Marlborough. This wine is now showing Pouilly Fume style minerality along with the typical lime and passion fruit flavours of New Zealand.

A well balanced and textural Sauvignon Blanc, it represents a flavour profile delivered from its unique origin with stylistic passionfruit, guava and hints of tangy citrus.
